Aloft by Marriott Glendale at Westgate

Lacee Kimball and her team made a family surprise feel really special. I asked Lacee, the Assistant General Manager, to arrange flowers, strawberries, champagne, and a few other touches for our son and his fiancée, who'd come from Germany. She was enthusiastic about helping and got her staff involved. Everything turned out beyond what we'd hoped for. My husband and I had flown in to meet them, and the care we got from the whole team made that moment unforgettable. The staff were warm, thoughtful, and professional, and Lacee's leadership clearly showed. They're the best people I've encountered in hospitality. I highly recommend the hotel, especially Lacee and her team.

The room is warm now, and the bed is comfortable. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight. After the first night, I spoke with the front desk and assistant manager. They apologized, and I was able to get a working room for one more night since my mattress delivery still wasn't coming until tomorrow. I checked in around midnight after a long, hard day, and the heater kept blowing cold air even when set to heat and turned up to 90. I tried running the shower for about 15 minutes, but it didn't help. Around 1 a.m. I shut the heater off because it was making the room colder, then slept in my hoodie and sweatpants. At 7 a.m. I called, and they brought a blanket and offered to move me, but with a 2 p.m. checkout I didn't want to switch rooms then. No one's really at fault, but I was freezing. I wrote this at 7:28 after that late check-in.

The pool area was pleasant, with good lounge chairs, and the gym was large and well equipped. My room was spacious, clean, and nice. I was mistakenly given one that hadn't been cleaned, but they apologized and sorted it out right away. The location is excellent too, with lots of restaurants within walking distance in the Westgate Entertainment District.

The staff were friendly, and everything was clean and nice. We found the bed very comfortable, and the room had a cool layout. The location was convenient, with lots of nearby amenities you can walk to. One awkward bit: when someone is showering, nobody else can use the sink or bathroom unless they don't mind being seen. Also, our sink drained really slowly and could use some Drano or something.
