Riverside Inn

The first thing that really bothered me was finding out the door had no bolt lock and its chain had been removed. I also found the water light brown, so we decided not to drink it that night and used our bottled water instead. The ice machine wasn't where the sign said it would be, and there was no pop machine. The snack machine was broken and had about three bags of chips. To get ice, you had to take your bucket to the check-in counter and ask the clerk to fill it. The check-in clerk was polite and tried to help. We asked for a kitchenette, which our assigned room didn't have, and he agreed to switch us. He couldn't locate the key at first, went looking for around five minutes, then brought it back. When I opened the room door a few inches, the TV was on, the beds weren't made, and bags were on them. I didn't open it any farther in case someone was inside. I went back to tell him the room was occupied and that I was freaked out. He stayed polite and found another room, but it had no kitchenette. I asked for a discount; he said the computer wouldn't allow one. He checked that room and discovered it had only one bed, though we needed two. The third room he found had two beds. I appreciated his effort, and the stay did begin well enough for me to rate it two stars at first. I came in with reasonable expectations for a two-star place in the middle of nowhere, but little else was satisfying. Now Google Maps says it's a three-star hotel, which is surprising. After discovering the missing door locks, I've changed my rating from two stars to one. Lower your expectations several more times. This place is profoundly disappointing.
