Comfort Inn Glenmont - Albany South

After being out for about nine hours, I came back to find my door slightly open and the deadbolt undone, seemingly by housekeeping. My belongings were inside and exposed. Nothing seemed to be missing, but that felt like luck. I reported it to the front desk and was told the general manager would review the camera footage and contact me. That never happened. After I followed up several times, I was told I had to reach out myself. There was no real urgency, apology, or ownership at any point. The security problems had started at check-in. The first room had a broken chain lock. In the second, the deadbolt didn't line up, and the door could be opened without a key card. I had to raise the issue again before I was moved to a third room. These repeated safety failures, followed by no accountability, were not a minor inconvenience. I would never bring my kids here, and I will never stay here again.

The staff were pleasant, but cleaning really needs work. I had to buy bleach and disinfectant to deal with mold in the shower, plus a broom and mop for the floor. It took four moppings before it was clean enough to walk on in socks. The pillowcases could have been much whiter, and I had to call the front desk to arrange for the bed linen to be changed. There was a foul smell from the sink, and the hallways were musty. I think I figured out where that smell was coming from. Then I had to fight a roach that morning, which was more proof of the cleanliness problems. Staff were talking loudly and yelling to each other in the halls after 11 p.m., so I couldn't sleep. Renovations also made a lot of noise during the day. The room felt smaller than I expected for a king, and breakfast could use more variety.

We stayed three nights for my business trip, and it wasn't worth what we paid. The room fridge had no light and made noise, especially at night, and the bathroom door hinges squealed badly when moved. We also had to switch rooms because ours smelled of smoke. The Jacuzzi in the indoor pool wasn't working. Breakfast was cheap, warmed-up prepared food rather than anything freshly made. Customer service was poor too. Nobody asked how our stay was.

The breakfast had a nice range of choices. I was pleasantly surprised by how roomy and comfortable the room was, too. Great beds, and a great shower and bathroom.
