Motel 6 Canton, TX

I was traveling through and needed an early check-in. The staff were great and opened a room for me before check-in time, which was a plus. The only snag was that my floor was wet because another staff member had just cleaned the room. I’d suggest keeping some rooms open for travelers who need to check in early instead of waiting until 3:00 pm. The safety there is wonderful.

The room was very clean, and the staff were great. The location is handy too, with an easy entrance and exit, a 7-11 next door, amazing BBQ less than a mile down the street, and a nice little metal market right beside it.

It’s so close to the road that you hear every truck and car go by, so this isn’t a place to relax. I didn’t get any sleep. The ceiling fan above the bed swings 5-6” from side to side and looks like it could come out of the ceiling, too dangerous to use. The bathroom door needs oil. It squeaked so badly that everyone in the room knew whenever it opened or closed. Water pressure was terrible as well.

I’ll never book here again. We made a last-minute reservation for Canton Trade Days, and cleanliness clearly isn’t their strong point. When we pulled into the parking lot, there was a truck on jack stands with no wheels. I could overlook that, since people have car trouble while traveling. The woman at the front desk was very nice. Opening our door hit us with an overwhelming blast of Fabuloso Lavender cleaner. It looked like they’d given us the ADA room, judging by the extra floor space and huge bathroom doorway. We planned to nap before dinner, then found toenail clippings in the bed. No way in h3ll am I paying for that level of gross. The front desk woman apologized and understood why we weren’t staying. She processed the refund, and I have the receipt. I just wish she’d put the reason on it. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
