Comfort Inn & Suites Glenwood Springs On The River

For an overnight stop, this place is serviceable, and the location makes it easy to get around Glenwood. It’s not where I’d choose for a family vacation. Check-in went smoothly, and the young woman was pleasant and helpful. Our key took several tries to open the door, though the room initially seemed clean and as advertised. The full kitchen was sparsely equipped: four spoons, five forks, two drinking glasses, no coffee pods for the single-serve maker, and no mixing or prep bowls. There were enough plates, bowls, and cookware. When I asked, I was told the rooms come furnished as is. There were two king beds, both like entry-level discount mattresses, pillows that seemed like they came from a discount bin, and sheets that felt like sandpaper. The couch was the most comfortable furniture, aside from the pullout mattress. The room was a decent size, the bathroom was okay but nothing special, and the small deck was nice for fresh air. The next day my card key wouldn’t get me into the gym. At the desk, a man smugly told me it was because I’d held it next to my phone, then explained that magnets can desensitize a key. I said I kept it in my wallet, and he repeated that it could deactivate it too. The key had barely worked from the start, and I’ve stayed at enough hotels to know a card can sit in my wallet and still work. After that explanation, he gave me replacement keys and another paper holder to “protect” them. Breakfast was about what I expected: soggy sausage, make-your-own waffles, toast, danishes, and eggs like cardboard. That was the least of my concerns. Again, it’s fine for one night, but I’d pick somewhere else for a family trip. I’ve been to Glenwood before and will return, but I definitely won’t stay at this Comfort Inn and Suites again.
