El Rancho Motel

I found two more bugs under the bed after catching one crawling across my chest while I was lying there. I put the one I caught in a zip lock bag, but management wouldn’t even look at it and said I must have brought them in. When staff came in, they aggressively pulled off the cover and flipped the mattress onto my bag, then claimed they didn’t see anything and still wouldn’t acknowledge the bug in the bag. There was also a lot of black mold on the shower ceiling. This happened around 9pm, and management refused to refund me, so I had to find and pay for another room elsewhere. Steer clear.

The sheets were clean and the owners and staff were very nice, but the bathrooms were pretty gross, with cracked tiles and dirty grout. The place feels run down and overdue for a remodel. At $100 for a Friday night, it seemed overpriced, especially since newer hotels nearby cost about the same. We’ll stay somewhere else next time.

We only needed somewhere to sleep and rest, so the lack of a pool or spa wasn’t an issue. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a simple mid century retro motel with no frills, and the price is good value. It’s not the Hyatt, but if that’s what you want, stay at the Hyatt. I’d come back here.

At about 9pm, a bed bug crawled across my husband while he was lying in bed. When he called the front desk, staff came in and flipped the mattress onto his duffle bag, which was on the dresser. He’d already stayed three nights, but when he asked for a refund, they blamed him for bringing the bugs and only refunded the next night. Worst customer service, and there are bed bugs. Don’t stay here.
