Wingate by Wyndham DFW / North Irving

I’d stay here again if American Airlines put me up for free, but I wouldn’t pick it myself. I spent about 8 hours here after being stranded. The bed and pillows were firm and supportive, and the hotel was decent enough for a short stay. My TV only showed a no-service error, and hallway conversations and doors closing were noisy enough to shake my door. I saw people waiting for the shuttle for a while, so I took an Uber instead. It did the job as a place to sleep for a bit.

The staff were as nice as they could be, and the beds were super comfortable. What really surprised me was how clean and well kept everything looked. I don’t know the hotel’s age, but it felt brand new. One of the best stays I’ve had at a hotel of this caliber, and it ranks high among the hotels I’ve stayed in. Great stay, keep it up!

The main problem was the AC. The heater was running when we arrived, and after I switched it off to use the AC, the room never cooled properly overnight, so it was hard to sleep. The fried chicken sandwich I ordered with our restaurant meal voucher was also tough and overcooked. I was there for one night with my daughters after an American Airlines delay made us miss our connection. The airline provided a voucher, and most of the stay was positive. The front desk team were very friendly and accommodating, and the service was excellent. Our room was spacious, which worked well for the three of us. It’s a nice, small three-story hotel with comfortable rooms and convenient amenities, though the AC was a drawback.

The hotel was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. The driver we eventually got was decent, but the shuttle situation was terrible: we waited outside for an hour and a half while several vans marked Wingate told us they didn’t serve Wingate. The van we finally boarded smelled really bad. American Airlines messed up our flights and sent us here. At dinner, the burgers came with slimy black lettuce that smelled bad. Once I took it off, the burger was good, and the fries were really good too. Breakfast was decent. It’s a shame these problems weren’t fixed, because the stay could have earned a really good review. Two stars feels generous.
