Residence Inn by Marriott DFW Airport North-Irving

I liked the apartment-style setup, with a private bedroom and kitchen amenities, and the room was clean and comfortable. The coin laundry worked well; the front desk had quarters, pods, and dryer sheets. Parking was free, and the friendly front desk staff made things easy. The hotel sits in a safe business park community. You can hear planes overhead, but I like that sound for sleeping.

Breakfast was great, and the cook was really kind. The room felt cozy and looked clean, but I found droppings in the kitchen cupboards, two bugs in the bathroom, and what looked like mold on the shower ceiling. I put up with it because moving rooms wouldn’t guarantee a cleaner one. If my wife had been with me, she probably would have changed rooms, or even hotels, after seeing that. The planes overhead got loud at times too, though I accepted that when I booked.

The complimentary breakfast was fantastic, with lots of options and an attendant constantly checking that everything stayed fresh and hot. I also appreciated the TV’s range of streaming services. Other hotels we’ve stayed at recently have limited us to Netflix, while this one also had Amazon Prime and a couple of other choices. The pillows were the best we’ve had in a hotel. Residence Inn is one of my favorite Marriott brands, especially the older properties with an apartment-complex layout. The rooms here feel a little tired, and the last refresh was around 2009, but they’ve been upgraded for current needs with USB ports and extra charger outlets.

Our flight got pushed to the next day, and after airport hotels were full, we needed somewhere convenient for the night. The Residence Inn by Marriott Dallas DFW Airport North/Irving was about 10 minutes away, and we were glad we chose it. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Zubair was wonderful. He took great care of us when we checked in around 8 PM, tired and exhausted, and greeted us with a smile at checkout the next day. He even held our bags while we went out for lunch. Breakfast was free, and the hotel shuttle runs every hour, so getting back to the airport was easy. Thanks, Zubair, for making a stressful delay much easier.
