A few days later, we still hadn’t heard from management, even though we were told someone would contact us. Between the maintenance failures, cleanliness issues, safety problems, and the experience overall, I can’t recommend this hotel. It needs better upkeep, quality control, and attention to guest safety. We were traveling with small children, and the fourth-floor balcony door was a major worry. It was partly open and completely off its bottom track, so we had to fix it ourselves to make the room safe. Then, at about 5:30 a.m., the fire alarms went off for no apparent reason and guests had to evacuate. The first room we were given was unacceptable: the bathroom sink wasn’t connected to plumbing, and the pipes were just sitting on the floor. We asked to move, but the second room had plenty of problems too. One TV didn’t work, dark curly hairs were scattered through the bathroom, a candy wrapper was left on the bed, and part of the shower knob fell off when we turned the shower on. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve had.

What stood out most was the value. The comfort and attention here go well beyond what the price suggests, and I’d gladly recommend the place and come back. The room was spotless and remarkably quiet, and breakfast was modest but clearly made with care. The calm surroundings made it easy to get deep, restorative sleep. From the moment we arrived, the reception team was both efficient and genuinely warm. Check-in was seamless and felt sincerely welcoming.

The front desk staff were helpful and professional, and I could tell they were trying their best. Housekeeping and room service, though, were inconsistent throughout my stay, which wasn’t a great experience. On day one, empty water bottles and trash were left in the room. On the second day, they made the bed but didn’t clean the tables or the rest of the room. On day three, housekeeping didn’t come at all. For the price and reputation, I expected much better cleanliness and consistency. I hope management improves the guest experience.

The location works well for my work trips, and the hotel was clean with friendly staff. But I expected a bit more from an Embassy Suites. No TV remote in the room worked on my first night, and the bathroom had several problems: no hot water came from the sink when I turned the dial, so I had to shave at the wet bar; the sink kept dripping and wouldn’t stop; and the shower rod was barely attached to the wall, leaving the curtain unable to stay closed because of its angle.

I ended up checking out at 10:30 pm in pouring rain to find somewhere dry and safe, with my 10-year-old daughter, unfamiliar with the area and with one tire leaking air pressure. The attendant offered no refund options, and the front desk woman was the opposite of helpful. If she’d shown even a little empathy, I wouldn’t have left such a bad review. Wet, smelly, moldy rooms with no TV and a diva lobby attendant pushed me over the edge. A woman traveling alone with her child was basically sent out into the night. The rooms we were moved through all had problems. We started in room 515, but it smelled so bad that I immediately asked for another. In room 527, the TV didn’t work. When I reported it, the front desk woman just said, “ya, it’s an issue right now in the 5th floor?!?!”. My daughter put her suitcase by the back door, and her things and bag got wet. The carpet was soaked through, not just damp, more like squishy wet. I asked for a dry room, and the woman seemed put out but reluctantly gave me another. It was 10 pm by then. Room 633 had soaking wet carpet too. I reported that as well, but she was again put out and offered no solution, only saying I could talk to a manager on Monday if I had issues. When it rains really hard, water comes in through the back doors and saturates the carpets. I worry about how many times over the years they’ve gotten wet and been left to dry, and how much mold might be growing underneath. Mold exposure is real and can cause severe illness. This screams mold, and I don’t consider the hotel safe for children. Maybe when you go it won’t be raining and the floor won’t be saturated, but know that the last time it rained it was soaked. If this has happened every time it rains for years, imagine what could be hidden under that carpet. Please don’t expose your children to this toxic environment. I’ve stayed in some swanky places, and I don’t mind a basic place. I value affordability over glamour. But this was too much. At the very least, a room should be dry and not have years of possible mold buildup.
