The place is quiet, close to our jobs, and has been a blessing for my wife and me. We haven’t found an apartment yet, so we’re grateful to have somewhere to stay for now. People have asked why we’ve stayed so long, and it’s simply what’s available to us at the moment. Ownership has changed, and they’ve upgraded the parking lot and lights and are renovating the lobby. When I’ve had an issue, it’s been handled professionally and promptly. I recommend Extended Stay America Meadow Creek Drive for a temporary stay with family while visiting the DFW area or looking for another home.

The staff were extremely nice, and the location worked well for me, with the train to the airport right across the street. But there are roaches, and the housekeeping isn’t very good. The rooms are very old, with mildewed drawers by the bed. There’s no pool or workout room, despite what I was told. The pool has been sealed up and turned into something that looks like a prison recreation yard. It might be okay for a temporary stay, but I wouldn’t stay long term.

We left first thing in the morning because we couldn’t wait to get out. The only thing going for the place was its location near the Music Factory. What we paid felt far too high for a rundown, outdated studio apartment. Our room had mold, a section of missing ceiling, dirty-feeling carpet, wall stains, a damaged toilet seat, and a bathroom door we had to shove closed. The TV didn’t work, there were bugs, and there were no USB ports for charging devices. I raised my concerns with the woman at the desk, who said she’d let the GM know. I doubt that will happen, so I’m reporting it here. Spend your money elsewhere.

There was no toilet paper or soap when I checked in. The room was dated and run down, and the appliances seemed about 30 years old. The microwave wouldn’t work and kept beeping until I finally unplugged it. The refrigerator didn’t cool properly, and some of my food spoiled.

The front desk and staff have been wonderful so far, and they promptly replaced lightbulbs. More security cameras have been added, which seems good for the ladies. But the Wi-Fi is spotty and weak, and there’s no breakfast at this location. The place has a rural feel, and the room is close to what you’d find in a third-world country. It’s hard to sleep with the noisy AC, which lets hot or cold, dusty wind in through the wall on windy days. The hallway smell comes through the door, and the train station is in front of the building, so you hear the whistle. The elevators were loud, though they’ve been fixed. Roaches are everywhere. Pest control came, but the roaches came out in force and don’t take no for an answer. I saw a big spider and smaller ones too, and the roach kids were playing on my tableware like it was a playground. The bugs bite hard even when it’s cold. There was no housekeeping for four weeks, and my towels are turning brown and stinky. The TV picture is bad, like a weak signal or fuzzy static. The popcorn ceiling is there, microwaves have peeling paint, and the ceiling is bulging with hairline cracks. The oven looked too disgusting to use, had no glass window to see food cooking, and I don’t think it can be cleaned, it needs replacing. The mattress is lumpy, the water is hard, and there are only two hangers in the closet and two office chairs. There’s no dishwasher, blow dryer, gym, pool, or USB ports. They put two picnic tables on the concrete swimming pool, along with a charcoal BBQ pit. You have to take your own trash outside, and depending on where your room is, the walk is about half a block. Rain makes it worse. Smokers outside the window fill the room with smoke. A dog nearby barks whenever it wants and woke me at 3 am. I don’t know if the roaches excited it or if it likes to party. There were domestic disputes and kids yelling. I saw a coyote eating a squirrel not too far from the hotel, and there was dog poop on the sidewalks and scattered in a hallway. The next-door hotel had a car with broken windows and two cars with flat tires. It’s a 15 min walk to the main road. This is just for information if any of that bothers you.
