Super 8 by Wyndham Irving DFW Airport/South

The older man who checked us in was nice, and the hotel is close to the airport and freeways. Nobody else interacted with us. The hotel and rooms need updating, with outdated furniture, mold in the shower, trash on the floor, and a silver fish I killed in the room. The curtains no longer block the light, so parking lot light came into the room all night. The A/C and heater worked great, but the bed and pilows were bad. Thankfully, we were out most of the day and only there to sleep 8 hours, shower, and go back out.

After a hard night of work, I came back and said good night to the front desk lady. She didn’t respond, so I went to warm up my meal in the breakfast room. Then she called out to ask if I was a guest. I said yes. While I waited for the elevator, she asked what room I was in. I refused to tell her, and she said it was her responsibility to know who was coming and going. I told her that wasn’t my problem and went up. She was standing in the hallway looking at me when I got to my room, so I went inside and closed the door. I’d left my phones in my car, so I went back out to get them. On the way in, she stopped me again and asked my name. I said I wasn’t going to tell her anything, that it was too early in the morning and I was going upstairs. She called me shady, said she’d report me to management, and claimed she had my information. I asked if she was the manager, and she said yes, then said again she’d report me to the management. I told her to do what she felt like and left. I’d just extended my stay for three more nights, and this was the first night of those three. When I woke up, I was checking out and never coming back. I was profiled and harassed by the front desk lady, I can’t make this shit up!

It’s a quaint old place with one elevator. Liz checked me out, and Shawna Checked Me. The manager gave me chocolate chip muffins for free because I didn’t come down in time, it’s 6a. to 9. It’s a continental breakfast. They treat veterans very nicely. I went to HOLY SPIRIT and Fire Conference so my Bus.

Our flight was unexpectedly canceled late in the evening, so we were scrambling to find another flight and somewhere to spend the night. At 2:30 AM, Super 8 came through with a nice room at a great price. It’s a low budget hotel and a little less fancy, but it was exactly what we needed. We appreciated the airport shuttle and something to eat before heading out. The driver even knew how to get through the airport construction and close to our gate. It was awesome. Thank you Super 8!
