We also booked a cottage advertised with a kitchenette. It had only a small dorm fridge and microwave. One of its two bathrooms had just a tub. There was dirty underwear on the floor, cereal and trash under the pullout couch, and ashes left in the fireplace. Once again, no bedding for the pullout. For our family holiday, we rented the Cape Cod house, which sleeps 14. It had three queen beds and four pullout couches, but no bedding or pillows for the couches. The back deck had trash from previous visitors. A note listed dishes and said to empty the dishwasher, but there isn’t a dishwasher. We had to ask for trash bags, since there were no extras. The main room lamp didn’t work, and the table only seats four despite the house sleeping 14. It wasn’t very clean, and the website said there was a hot tub, but we were told it had been closed for years and needed repairs. The desk clerks were friendly and provided the bedding we needed, though they had no pillowcases for the pillows. You can walk to the beach, but I wouldn’t spend the money to stay here again.

My child was sick, so I called to cancel our one-night stay the day before. The woman who answered said she’d cancel it and I wouldn’t be charged. The next day, though, $260 appeared on my bank account. When I called back, they said they’d never received a call from me. They wouldn’t reverse the charge and then fought my bank for a month after I disputed it. Ridiculous customer service. I guess losing a customer and a whole family that often visits Gold Beach was worth it. We’ll stay somewhere else now. I can’t recommend this motel.

The place is run down, though it has some charm. There was trash all over outside, with old furniture dumped along the paths. In the rooms, food and garbage had been left on the floor.

I’ve stayed here several times every year for the past 20 years, but the new rate increase isn’t worth it. I’ve dealt with everything from water leaks to ants taking over my room. The off-season price of $80 was okay because you get what you pay for. The new price is insane.

We were in town for work and usually stay up the road at the M6, but had some reception issues there this time. We’d always admired Ireland's setting as we drove through, so we gave it a try. It was such a serene place, with a calm atmosphere and a rustic feel you don’t find often these days. The staff were super helpful. We planned on one night and wound up staying four. Lol.
