Hampton Inn-Denver West/Golden

The room’s heating was inconsistent and mostly blew hot, so I found it better to switch it off. It was also dusty, but checking the AC filter improved things, and the carpet really needed vacuuming. The towels felt rough and old.

The staff are what made this place great. Everything was clean and well stocked, and the lobby always had fresh cookies, lemonade, and coffee. It’s tucked behind a strip mall, which is an odd spot, but convenient when you want food. For our Red Rocks trip it was perfect, with an easy drive there. They had the Red Rocks schedule and a third-party shuttle option posted in the lobby too.

Breakfast was good and the staff were good too, so the stay was okay apart from the room. There was mold on the ceiling and I had to fix the broken bathroom door. I’m pretty sure I got sick here. At $173 for one night, it should’ve been a lot better.

The location and price were good, but I don’t think I’d book this Hampton again. We stay at Hamptons all the time and expected a higher standard. The ceilings are only seven feet, which made the room feel like a cave. The mattress was awful, with springs you could feel, and the towels looked and felt 15 years old. There were rusty or chipped spots in the shower, no bathroom vent, and the doors were hard to close. We found pubic hairs in the shower on arrival, though housekeeping came right away. They also charge $9 a night to park. Sadly, the Holiday Inn Express next door has better rooms, though Hampton’s breakfast is better.
