Motel 6 Goleta, CA - Santa Barbara

The bed was surprisingly comfortable, better than beds at other Motel 6 locations and even local Hiltons. You can hear the freeway outside, but with the door shut it was barely noticeable, if at all. The rooms are small, but it is Motel 6, so that's what you'd expect. Rates are reasonable for the area except on holiday or event weekends, though still better than nearby options. It's right off the 101 and mostly easy to reach, but heavy traffic can make getting in and out difficult. Grocery stores and restaurants are within walking distance. A good stay for the price.

These rooms are tiny, really suited to two people for just one night. The bathroom setup is unusual, with double doors separating the sink from the shower and toilet, and I wish the layout were different. There's just one mirror, over the sink, and the towels are very small, so for a longer stay I'd bring my own. The room has nice hard floors instead of carpet, but they could do a better job mopping.

I came over Thanksgiving, and the location was convenient, the price very affordable, and most employees were friendly and helpful. My room was cramped and very small, even for a short visit. One male staff member was extremely rude and made me uncomfortable, which took away from the stay despite the kindness of the other staff.

The room's appliances worked, and I could see what they were going for, but the place didn't deliver well. There were spiders on the ceiling and mold in the bathroom ceiling, and it smelled of cigarette smoke as soon as I walked in, even though it was a non-smoking room. Other places were booked, so I had to make do, and luckily managed to sleep through it. Still, $400-plus for two nights was not worth it.
