Ramada by Wyndham Santa Barbara

The grounds were pleasant, our room was clean and had a balcony, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast could use a few more choices, but the staff working there were really great. A very nice place to stay.

The breakfast was a highlight, with protein choices, juice, cereal, oatmeal, milk, sweet and healthier breads, and even pancakes. The heated pool and jacuzzi sit by a large pond and fountain, where ducks and storks sometimes show up. That, along with the clean, simple modern rooms and facilities, gave the property a resort feel. You need your room key to enter the hallways, which also felt reassuringly safe. We mentioned by phone that we were celebrating our babymoon and shared where we got married. They surprised us with sparkling apple juice, such a thoughtful gesture. There were lots of families with kids, and it seemed like a popular spot for family staycations. This was easily our favorite getaway hotel, unlike any short-stay place we'd tried before.

The property felt close to nature, and the heated pool and spa pool were both nice. Staff at reception, breakfast, and housekeeping were friendly and generous. Our clean, comfortable room had quality furniture. We could hear people in the passage, but it wasn't too loud or bothersome. Breakfast was good, simple but enough.

Getting from the rooms to the front lobby was a bit complicated, and the place overall feels somewhat dated, even with the remodeled rooms. The staff were extremely friendly. The woman serving breakfast was especially wonderful and made sure every morning of our stay started well.
