The location is convenient, and the room was mostly okay otherwise, but the quality hasn't kept up with rates of $100 or more per night. The shower and tub drain didn't work, and I only found out while showering. The water wouldn't drain at all unless I stood there plunging it. It filled almost immediately, so surely someone should have noticed while cleaning. At check-in, we had to ring and ring the bell before a kid came out with her phone in hand, no greeting, and grudgingly started getting us a room. Seriously?
2/10
When I booked, the price was $20 higher than it had been just 24 hours earlier. On arrival, there was a huge loud fan in my room because the carpet was wet. The hotel was completely booked, so there was nowhere else to move. The room and bathroom door handles and the bathtub knob were disgustingly greasy. I had to wash them with a washcloth, and the bathroom smelled bad too. The parking lot was much too small for the hotel, and there were no spaces left for us. I wouldn't stay there again.
8/10
The room was clean, though it had a musty smell that I think came from being closed up for a while. It's a little out of the way, but that's okay. There was rust around the doors and vanity, and the shower dripped all night, though it wasn't horrible.
10/10
I've stayed at the Gonzales La Quinta twice now, and this visit met all my expectations for a weekend away. The app made check-in and checkout easy, and the location worked well for Shiner and the surrounding areas. The complimentary breakfast is a nice bonus, especially the Texas-shaped waffles!
10/10
Everything was really nice and new, and the air conditioning worked great. The one thing they should address is the smoke alarm in the middle of the room. Its red light flashes every two minutes, and I like complete darkness, so that little blink killed me.
