Cabin 15 was gorgeous, smelled nice, and was clean. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the stainless steel appliances were up to date. It definitely didn't feel like a three-star hotel. Sarah at the front desk made the holiday weekend even better. She was patient and knowledgeable, and even while busy she gave us, and the guests before and after us, the same attentive care. My husband and I needed a break, and her service and the accommodation have us wanting to bring the whole family back again and again.

The grounds were gorgeous, and the staff were accommodating. There was a lot to enjoy: fishing, a gym, horseback riding, an arcade, pools, a general store, and a restaurant on site. The amenities were incredible, and the washer and dryer were free, though only three-bedroom suites have them inside the room. The two-bedroom cabin was small but enough for us. Cabin 33 was ours, and security helped when they saw us lost. Our one problem was getting there. At 65 and 56, with no sidewalk or parking lot, we had to hike to the cabin carrying all our things for a week in the dark and rain. I was told special arrangements need to be requested two weeks ahead, which I hadn't known. We should have checked the reviews first, clearly. It was a great visit otherwise. Just don't arrive in the dark and rain.

We really liked the rooms, especially the comfortable beds. Shenandoah Crossing was quiet, with historic attractions and wineries nearby. Some of our planned stops were a bit of a drive, but the trip through Shenandoah National Park and its scenery made it worthwhile. We hadn't been told when booking that the indoor pool and hot tub would be closed, so we were disappointed not to enjoy them with our son. We still had long scenic walks, watched the horses, played mini-golf, and visited the playgrounds.

The lodge rooms are on the small side, though the cabins and hurts are very nice. There's no continental breakfast, but Macs, the on-site restaurant, is decent and the food is good. Plenty of amenities and activities, too.

There were activities every day from 10-5, including horseback riding and lots of trails to walk. The area was beautiful, and the staff were really helpful. The room was small but adequate, and there are different kinds of lodging to choose from. It's a very nice resort.
