La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Granbury

The room felt old and poorly maintained. The bathroom was really dirty, with rust everywhere and visible mold in the shower. The caulk hasn’t even been replaced, which made showering feel gross. Housekeeping brought clean towels but left the rest of the room dirty and didn’t touch the beds. Maybe you have to ask for that? I wouldn’t stay here again.

Moving my wheelchair over the thick carpet was exhausting, and I couldn’t reach anything at the complimentary hot breakfast. Getting through the front door was almost impossible too. It was a pull door on a steep slope, and the three-inch lip made it embarrassing and difficult to open the door, hold it, and get my chair over it, both arriving and leaving. I booked a room described as handicapped accessible, but I found nothing accessible about it. I couldn’t use the bathroom mirror or sink. There were grab bars in the shower, but they weren’t mounted anywhere helpful, and there was no detachable shower head. I felt helpless. The place wasn’t friendly or helpful for me, it was the complete opposite.

It seemed like an older hotel, but it was clean and the A/C worked well. There were only two places to plug in a boat. The office staff were very helpful and accommodating as they worked to get everyone's boats plugged in.

The employee was very polite, apologized, and took good care of us. He was the bright spot in an awful situation. When I asked about charging people who smoked in the rooms, the idea seemed unfamiliar to him, as if the hotel didn’t do that. We checked into an upstairs room after being told there was no elevator. It smelled strongly of cigarettes, the carpet was soiled, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The employee brought keys to another room, but that one smelled of cigarettes too. We asked for a refund, and he accommodated us.
