Watching sunset from the Lodge overlook both evenings was a highlight, and we learned a lot about the Canyon’s geology on our first full day walking the Rim Trail from Bright Angel to the Geology Center. We took the shuttle back, which was very convenient. Our cabin/casita at Bright Angel Lodge was cozy, quiet, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The Arizona Steak House dinner on night one was delicious, with tasty food, steaks cooked just as we asked, and attentive, pleasant service. The Harvey House meal the next night was just adequate. My green chile tamales were gut bombs, and one tamale with some kind of side salad would have been better. Finding a parking spot near our cabin late in the afternoon took a while. Still, we had a fantastic stay. The Canyon is awe-inspiring!

Breakfast started at 6am, which made it easy to get a full day in. The shuttle buses came every 10-15 minutes, so there was no need to drive. Our rim side cabin had staggering views all day, and the lodge served great food and drinks. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Fantastic place to stay, and I’d definitely come back.

We had a cabin with a fireplace and a partial view. The fireplaces aren’t working at the moment, and I’m not sure whether they’ll be fixed. You can hear a little noise through the shared walls, but it didn’t take away from our stay; everyone seemed considerate. Bright Angel Lodge is hard to beat. We’ll be back many times!

The historic feel and the lodge’s closeness to the rim are what make Bright Angel Lodge stand out among the Grand Canyon Village hotels. I loved the simple, tasteful cabins and found our room spotless, a big compliment to the cleaning staff. I’d worried about noise after reading reviews, but nights were very quiet. You can hear neighbors during the day, though. For me, this is the best place to stay on the South Rim. Thank you, BAL. I hope to return someday.

We only had one day at Bright Angel Lodge, and there’s so much around here that next time we’d stay several days to explore more. Our private cabin overlooking the rim was a splurge, but waking up with the Grand Canyon right outside the window made it worth it. The lodge, built in the 1930s, has a charming historic feel. Just be careful near the views: some areas have no railings or walls, and a wrong step could send you into the Canyon. Stay aware of where you’re walking. Highly recommend it for a Grand Canyon visit.
