I was pleasantly surprised by the room, since other reviews had left me with low expectations. It was clean and comfortable, and the view was incredible. The location was perfect for our first Grand Canyon trip. The AC was the problem: the room stayed at 77 even though the thermostat was set to 66. We called and were told someone would come check it, but nobody showed up. We were only there one night, and luckily the temperature outside dropped into the 40s. We opened a window, but the room still only got down to 69 overnight. Several other guests said their AC had the same issue.
Staying in Grand Canyon Village made for a great visit. The lodge is older, and the rooms are on the small side, but the location can’t be beat. You don’t have to worry about finding parking, and if someone in your party feels unwell, they can easily return to the room. I’d recommend it four out of five times.
The night skies, sunrises, sunsets, and the art show at the Kolb were my favorite parts of this visit. Two friends and I spent three nights at the south rim, and enjoyed every minute: hiking, exploring, talking with staff, and visiting the museums. There’s so much to see and experience. I’m proud of our national park system and of the dedication, knowledge, and deep love that keep it running. My friends agree!
For somewhere to wind down and sleep after spending the day outside, this is all you really need. It’s quiet, comfortable, and straightforward, with basic rooms that are a bit outdated. The curtains were dusty, but the room was otherwise pretty clean, and the view was nice, especially early in the morning. It’s an ideal spot for Grand Canyon activities and shuttles. It’s no El Tovar fancy. I only encountered staff at check-in, so I can’t say much about them.
The view was spectacular, the room very clean, and the staff friendly and professional. We had the greatest stay and would definitely recommend Kachina lodge for a Grand Canyon visit.
