About this property

This motel-style lodge is ideally located in the southwest area of the Grand Canyon Village, just a short walk from the canyon. Nestled within several acres of Ponderosa pine forest it welcomes all outdoor types. The original establishment dates back to the 1927 and was constructed by Fred Harvey Company and the Santa Fe Railroad, when travelling by automobile to the parks was quickly becoming fashionable. The only architectural component remaining from historic lodge buildings are the original stone pillar, everything else has been rebuild. The rooms feature either 2 large queen-size beds or a single king-size one and guests can request a roll-away beds if needed. For dining there is a food court from where one can grab a sandwich or other types of ready-made food and a sports bar with a wide screen TV, where to catch a game and chill with a beer.

The room suited the rustic lodge setting, and the location near the Grand Canyon rim is incredible. My one disappointment was the lack of real room service. You have to ask if you need anything, and it would’ve been nice to have the basics refreshed and coffee restocked in the morning. It’s a minor thing. We had a great stay.

We could walk to scenic spots and catch the free shuttle buses, so it was easy to get around without using the car. The hotel was a pleasant surprise: clean, comfortable, and with dining choices. We had an excellent stay and I’d definitely come back. Our room had a mini fridge but no microwave, which caught me off guard a little, though it wasn’t a big deal. Meals on site were a bit pricey, but about what I’d expect. The TV had some cable channels but no streaming, so bring your own device if you want that.

Maswik Lodge was a fantastic place for our quick visit to Grand Canyon National Park. We stayed one night, and being a short walk or shuttle ride from the canyon’s edge meant no long drives in and out of the park. We caught sunset at the rim and went for an early morning stroll. Both were magic. Our room felt freshly decorated, bright, modern, and cozy among the Ponderosa pines. It was spotless and well maintained, and the comfortable beds and tidy, contemporary interior made it easy to unwind after exploring. The staff were lovely throughout, from check-in to the food court, and went out of their way to help. We’ll be back for a longer stay. Thanks, Maswik team, for making our quick getaway so memorable!

The food court inside the building was a real plus, and the staff were very kind. Our family had a good stay together, with the room’s cleanliness also in good shape. The water pressure was a bit low, but the heating worked well, and being able to cook our own meals was convenient.
