Inn At Union Square

The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. It's so convenient to Union Square, with a cable car nearby if you don't want to tackle the hills on foot. The rooms were clean, nice, and well maintained. I'd definitely stay again.

My first stay at The Inn turned into a complete nightmare. After checkout, I found a $50 charge on my card for a "missing umbrella." There had never been an umbrella in the room, I didn't take one, and it wasn't needed on a sunny day. I spoke to several staff members, but they kept passing me around. Management was unreachable when I asked to speak with a manager. The way the hotel handled this was unacceptable: there seems to be no process for resolving disputes, and guests get sent in circles over something that wasn't their fault. Be careful, unexpected charges may show up with no way to resolve them. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Ossie at the front desk was amazing. They helped us book an extra room at the last minute, looked after our bags after checkout, and spent plenty of time answering questions and guiding us through the stay. The building is fun, and it's easy to walk around the downtown area from there. We had a wonderful stay!

The location is great and the service was friendly and solid, though nothing especially stood out. The room was nice, but there's no A/C. I know the usual response is that you don't need it in SF, but when it's really warm outside, it's nice to come back to an air-conditioned room. Being able to open a window was refreshing, though the air conditioning units on the adjacent building across from us made it quite loud. Ironic.
