Best Western Harvest Inn & Suites

The manager, front desk team, and everyone else always make us feel welcome, like we're at home. We've been coming twice a year for more than three years, and the place keeps getting better. You can tell the staff really care about their guests. We appreciate all they do and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Grand Forks.

The location is great, and the room was spacious and clean with a really comfortable bed. We liked the pool, and the hot tub was warm without being too hot. Breakfast wasn't the best, but it was enough.

I used this place more than 20 times, partly because they offered a good surgery discount. When I had an electric car, the chargers were free and very good. Service was always very good, and they would bring extra pillows whenever I asked. The bathrooms stayed clean; the rooms themselves were passable, and the pool was okay. It's quick to get off the highway and find, and there's a convenience store across the street.

Here's what happened during our stay in room 234, booked through a third party. First I found a towel stained with something yellow. Then the room wouldn't heat: I set the thermostat to 84 and went shopping for three hours, but it was still 55 when I got back. The front desk offered room 233, but wanted us to pack everything and bring it back to get new keys. That was a hassle, so I suggested he book us out of 234, give us keys for 233, and come with us to move our things next door. That worked. In 233, the sink wouldn't drain because the plug was down. Luckily I could reach under the sink and open it. The carpet was disgusting, with stains everywhere. The hotel could rent a rug shampooer from the mall next door and clean them properly. The shower pressure was so poor that showering took three times as long. The beds were hard, like sleeping on plywood. There were no pool towels stocked at the start of the day, so we had to ask the front desk. At breakfast, all three garbage cans were overflowing, and I had to tell staff we couldn't throw anything away. If you want a quiet stay, it may not happen: we were by the pool and woke at 8 am to kids screaming and playing. I'd potentially stay again if the price were right, but personally wouldn't pay more than $60 USD a night. There's plenty to improve, including preventive maintenance, deep cleaning, regular cleanliness, and keeping towels and garbage under control so guests don't have to ask.
