The room and lobby look great, and the whole place feels cozy and welcoming. I liked having a room I could hang out in during the day. Sleeping was another story, though. The toilet flushes from nearby rooms were really loud, and the heater/cooler rattled too. I took off a star because all that noise made it hard to sleep. If I were only looking for somewhere to sleep before an important meeting or event, I’m not sure this would be the best fit.

The bedroom details made for a miserable night, so I’d suggest staying at the Econolodge instead. It’s way cheaper and probably better. The place may look clean and cared for at first, but my room had a huge urine stain on the mattress, old lumpy pillows that seemed like they hadn’t been changed in at least two years, and a crooked toilet seat. There was a stain on one bath towel, and the bathroom door stains looked like dirt. The paint under the sink also seemed not to have been redone in a long time. The A/C kept turning off and made a racket loud enough to keep me from falling asleep. The fan-off setting was disabled, so unplugging it was the only way to stop the noise, but then the room would get freezing. I travel to GJ quite a lot, and I’ll never stay here again. The neglect is unbelievable.

A convenient overnight stop on a road trip, with a clean, comfortable, spacious room and a good price. The towels and bed linens were good quality, though there aren’t many frills. The 32-inch TV has decent cable channels, but don’t expect a big screen. The complimentary breakfast was somewhat lacking compared with other hotel chains.

They’ve made some effort to update the place, and the lobby is clean and tastefully decorated. Our room was clean too, but neither my husband nor I could sleep because the bed was so uncomfortable. Honestly, I think the truck would’ve been more restful. We skipped breakfast since the choices left a lot to be desired. We would’ve been better off looking for somewhere else to stay.

The woman who helped us at checkout was very kind. The check-in experience, though, was the opposite. After eight hours on the road, we just wanted to get some rest, but the receptionist, who I believe was named Joe, was extremely rude and unfriendly. He seemed upset that I only had a digital copy of the card on file from our online booking. He eventually agreed to work with me, but when I offered a physical card for the $75 incidental hold, he refused and insisted it had to be the same card. I’ve never had that issue at another La Quinta or hotel. The elevators felt sketchy, stopping abruptly, jolting to a halt, and not lining up with the floors. The rooms were just okay and not worth the money. We paid $91 for a stay from 7pm to 7am, and decent service at check-in would’ve made a difference. I wish we’d canceled and gone to one of the many nearby hotels. This stay completely ruined La Quinta for me, and I’d highly recommend another hotel in Grand Junction.
