SpringHill Suites by Marriott Grand Rapids North

My stay itself was fine, with no problems. The issue came after I left my very expensive Bose headphones in the room while rushing out. The front desk staff, Will and Heather, I think, found them and sent them back safely, so thank you to them. But once I got them, they tried to connect to “XXXs A14,” which means someone paired them with their Galaxy A14 while the headphones were in the hotel’s possession. That’s not great. Maybe someone was going to keep them until I called asking for them, but at least I got them back.

There were plenty of hangers, and I really liked having a kitchenette with a good-sized fridge. The room layout felt cozy, and being near another door made it easy to bring my things in and out. The bathroom worked well for getting ready for my event, and breakfast was easy to manage in the morning. The hotel is near shopping, gas stations, and restaurants, while still close to Grand Rapids and close enough to Lake Michigan for a day trip. It was a comfortable, easy place to return to. Thanks for a great stay.

The location is a big plus, with lots of restaurants and other places nearby. It’s a bit outside downtown, but that worked fine. The beds were comfortable, and the shower had great heat and water pressure. A couple things bothered me. I find the hotel convenience stores a rip-off, with prices worse than even the most expensive gas stations. They only carry Pepsi products, which I personally don’t like, and when a hotel offers just one brand, I figure there’s probably a vendor deal behind it, so the prices feel especially outrageous. Marriott also pushes its loyalty program at check-in, with ads in the room and on the TV. The Wi-Fi is throttled so badly that you have to sign up to get even a marginal improvement.

It was a quiet place to stay, and the breakfast was really good. Whoever made the bacon today deserves a shoutout. The front desk staff were consistently nice and greeted us every time we came in. I’d stay here again.
