Holiday Inn Express Grand Rapids Airport North by IHG

Good breakfast, with a few unprocessed options, and a reasonable price. The room, bathroom, and bright lobby were all clean and comfortable. Near the Grand Rapids Airport, it was what I expect from Holiday Inn Express.

We got in just before midnight with nowhere to stay, after dropping someone off for an early flight. I was too tired to drive back to Ann Arbor, and the other hotel we tried was full. This was a no-frills place, but it gave us somewhere to rest. I’d asked for the top floor and got it. The room could have been cleaned more thoroughly, but I was comfortable enough to close my eyes for the night and head back out by 7 a.m. We were grateful for that. Breakfast had good options and decent coffee.

I had a constructive phone conversation with the GM, Renee, about my stay, but this hotel still has a lot of room to improve. With so many comparable hotels nearby, I don’t see myself choosing it again. The wake-up call system rang my room two hours before the time I’d programmed. Also, the coffee makers have been removed from the rooms, apparently as an IHG brand standard, and both of the new lobby coffee machines were out of order while I was there. After many years of loyalty to IHG and Holiday Inn Express, this experience has me reconsidering.

They took out the in-room coffee machines, and that was the one thing that kept the room at four stars instead of five. I get it, though. The hotel was spotless and well cared for, and the staff were AMAZING. They were so helpful during a really stressful week for my husband and me. Kudos to all of them ❤️❤️
