We came to see this part of the state in winter, and finding this motel at the last minute was a lovely surprise. It’s handy for both town and the highway, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and we enjoyed driving around the countryside. The check-in was easy, using a door code, and the host responded quickly. The room was spotless and had clearly been updated, with new flooring, a redone bathroom, and fresh decor. They’d turned some cool old speakers into end tables, and the king room had a comfortable couch for watching TV. The bed was cozy, the sheets and comforter felt upscale, and everything smelled super clean. We slept well. For the size and price, the room was a much better value than we expected, especially in such a quaint town.

A great little spot for a couple. The location works especially well for sledding or kayaking, with trails close by and the Sturgeon River right there. The rooms are upgraded and clean, and the owners have made them really efficient. They’ve thought of what you need, from shower supplies to a nice little pot of morning coffee with grounds included.

We were displaced by the 2026 flood, and Star Gate Motel gave flood victims substantial discounts along with really comfortable accommodations. From check-in to check-out, the welcome was genuine and attentive. Elizabeth and crew are real community treasures. The rooms are fresh, clean, and thoughtfully updated, a cozy place to rest after a day full of worries. The amenities cover what you need without fuss, and there are bonfire pits, a grill, and chairs. The quiet, inviting atmosphere was just what we needed while dealing with being displaced. It’s also close to beautiful rivers and scenic trails for anyone wanting time outdoors, and great specialty restaurants are only steps away. With gratitude.

We stayed in the rental home, and everything was great. It was furnished and stocked with cooking dishes, and even had box fans in the closet, which was a nice surprise since my son uses one every night to fall asleep. There was a washer and dryer, too. Just a great experience.

We'd stay here again. The room rates are good, and it's nice to have an affordable place that's still comfortable and clean. The rooms are a little dated, sure, but dated isn't the same as dirty. These are well kept. You get good towels, a comfortable bed, coffee maker, small fridge, and microwave, so you have what you need in this remote area. Please support this small-town motel. We need more clean, affordable places to stay.
