If you're trying to save money on a place to sleep, this works. The room felt clean and met my expectations, but it's an old-school motel, and even with the recent renovation claims, the facilities still feel like motel quality. It's not a five-star stay. The owner, or at least the staff member I assume is the owner, was very nice and volunteered lots of information about nearby things to see. We followed his tips and visited the sandstone bluffs and natural arch, both within 30 miles south of the motel. He also suggested a restaurant, but we'd already eaten. You can hear nearby trains. They aren't especially loud, but they're noticeable.

David checked us in around 7 PM and was so kind, telling us about all there was to do around Grants NM. We changed our Chaco Canyon plans after he spoke so highly of the nearby National monuments and hiking. It's a cute little motel on historic Route 66, and we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. There was plenty of parking. Hot water came quickly, and the heater cranked so well that we had to turn it down after an hour because we got too warm. We'll be back at the Leisure Lodge to explore more of El Malpais!

On Christmas night we arrived hungry to find all the restaurants closed. The staff generously fed us food left over from a barbecue they'd hosted that day. It meant a lot. They also waived the pet fee for our dog as a Christmas special. Our room was clean and quiet, with plenty of heat and hot water. We had a wonderful stay at Leisure Lodge and will definitely return. Highly recommend!

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was affordable. It's an older building, though the rooms have recently been refreshed. There are visible wall cracks where the foundation has settled. Everything worked in the room, and the bed was comfortable.

There was some noise from passing trains, but I still got a comfortable bit of rest and a nice hot shower on a long road trip. This place is spotless, with cleanliness clearly a priority. I've stayed in much pricier hotels that were far less clean.
