Sands Motel

I like a basic motel with a bit of vintage character. This one could be better, though.

Feels more like a studio apartment than a place you just book for the night. Awesome spot, with lots of improvements and new owners! 😀

We were there two days ago, and my husband and I were too tired to go look for somewhere else. The room itself was nice. We booked online at $46, but they said they wouldn't honor that price. Fine. Then I asked for a coffee pot, and the one I got was dusty. For coffee, the older man took Folgers and scooped it into a plastic cup. Then I asked where the ice machine was. It was in the office. He put ice in my bucket using his bare hands. Never again.

The people working here were so welcoming, and our room was spacious, comfortable, and really nice inside. We were exhausted and didn't even go out to dinner, and had no complaints about the stay. It's a good price and not far from the interstate. It's an old-school motel off old Route 66, so there's no pool or breakfast. I love small places like this and would definitely stay again. If you're passing through, come for the nostalgia and to support a small business. The big hotels are nice too, but I like these little ones so much.
