Travelodge Six Flags / Gray Summit

The staff were great and everyone was friendly. We still had a good time, though the weather kept us from making use of the pool. We stayed June 9-12, 2014, and the internet was poor. I was told lightning had hit a tower and their system couldn't handle Windows 8. They should upgrade it. I booked through the Travelodge 800 number. Don't do that or use the hotel websites. Call the hotel directly at its 636 number for a better deal.

The linens were clean, but they don't use fitted sheets, so the flat sheets came loose as soon as I sat down. The mattress was left exposed, which felt nasty regardless of how it looked. There was only one available outlet, in the bathroom, and the wifi was completely unreliable. The room was dated and dumpy, the free breakfast was a joke, and staff were hard to find and unhelpful. Never again.

The management seems to make a real effort to keep the plumbing, air conditioning, and other basics working, and to keep rooms clean. Still, it's an old-fashioned motel, with outside entrances and wall-mounted AC units. The dated carpet, drapes, wallpaper, and rooms are hard to overlook. The rate is affordable, but only just worth it. Keep your expectations low.

The employees were really nice, and the place was clean with no cigar smell. I stayed at Travelodge for two nights. My one complaint is the extra $5 charge for a microwave or mini fridge. They're both really small, so you can't fit much inside.
