Rodeway Inn Near JFK Airport

For the price, the decor, cleanliness, and friendly staff make this place great. Parking is confusing, and the entrance looks a little shady, but I’d still highly recommend it. There are lots of delivery options nearby, and it’s very close to JFK. People can be so harsh.

The receptionists were a highlight, both very kind and helpful. But the room was underwhelming, especially at $99 plus tax, or $117. A cab ride from JFK takes about five minutes, but disregard the website, there is no airport shuttle. The bedding and towels looked clean, the bed was comfortable enough, and there was a mini fridge. The blanket was very thin, and there was no in-room coffee machine or hair dryer. Mold seemed to be growing around the tub, and the hot water was unreliable. The AC controls didn’t seem to work, leaving a loud fan running all night. Reception and room entrances are through an outdoor courtyard, reached by a fairly narrow ramp or stairs. I was there because my flight was canceled, and the short distance from the airport was convenient. The stay was tolerable for someone waiting on a rescheduled flight. The room was small and mostly clean, and the bathroom was basic, with mold along the caulking and old pipes sticking out of the wall from earlier renovations. Bring a wall adapter, since there are no USB charging ports. The loud beeping in the hallway was the real drawback. There’s no lobby, so people could talk right outside my door.

The free breakfast was quite good, and the airport shuttle was quick, punctual, and much appreciated. The room was a little small, though that’s to be expected with NYC real estate. The blankets were a bit dirty, but white isn’t a great color choice for hotel comforters. Service was excellent, while the accommodations fell a little short of great. I’d stay again.
