Quality Inn Grayville

Room 113 smelled strongly of cat urine, so I told the front desk and was moved to another room. The young woman there was very nice about it. The bathrooms are extremely cramped if you’re claustrophobic. The alarm clocks were unplugged, and the microwave showed the wrong time. Breakfast was a joke. Also, go easy on the Pine-Sol when cleaning. The smell was overpowering and seemed to be covering up the cat urine.

I arrived around 12:30 a.m. during a snowstorm with my three-year-old. Online it said $55, and I called to confirm before bringing her inside. I was told the room was $50, my cat would be $20 even though she stayed in her carrier in the bathroom, and the deposit was $50. The bathwater was brown, the heat was off, and the room was freezing. I checked out at 8:30 that same morning, but nobody came to the desk when I rang the bell; she was on her phone in the back. I left the key cards on the desk, carried my girls to the car, and called to say I’d left. They charged me $100 for the room and $70 for the pet, with $50 as the deposit. I wouldn’t stay there again.

The room was okay and clean enough, though the tub wasn’t very clean. On our departure morning, the key stopped working and housekeeping had to fetch a master hard key to let us in. The front desk woman told me that room had caused trouble the day before too. Why not fix it before assigning it to someone else?

Our usual choice is a king room, which has plenty of space, a couch, a large TV with DirecTV, a mini fridge, and a microwave. It’s a very nice room for the price, and as Choice Hotel members, we rank it among the nicest Quality Inns we’ve stayed in. The hotel is quiet, rooms are always clean, and the staff are friendly. The well-lit parking lot feels safe. It’s close to I-64 and easy to get in and out of. Breakfast runs from 6 am-9 am.
