Budget Inn

The building may not look like much, but the staff are kind and humble, and I think this local business deserves support. I felt safe, the room was very clean, the shower had great water, and it was quiet enough for a really good night's sleep.

Wayne has been running this place for more than 40 years. He gave us a friendly welcome. The room was painted last year and was clean. You can reach the national parks in about 45 minutes from here.

I booked Budget Inn ahead based on the price after several days in the Maze District of Canyonlands. I only needed a basic place to clean up and sleep, and it turned out to be a great stop. It's fairly central, and when I walked in, someone called from the back to say he'd be right up. The Three Stooges was playing on the TV behind the desk, which somehow set a nice tone. The owner got me checked in quickly and offered his good coffee. He makes real coffee each morning from 5 a.m., which was a welcome perk. The room was basic but clean and had everything I wanted: a large fridge, small table and two chairs, microwave, streaming TV, AC, clean sheets, and a hot, powerful shower. Everything worked, and it was quiet overnight. I left around 5:30 the next morning. The owner was settled in a lounge chair behind the desk watching TV, greeted me warmly, and remembered our coffee conversation. He told me to take as much as I needed for the trip, and the coffee was great.

I'd read the online reviews and was a little apprehensive, but this is a good motel/inn. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms very clean. Our room had a working TV, microwave, and fridge, and there was enough space for four of us and all our luggage. The eating area worked out well for us, and the owner was helpful, even lending us a water heater for quick meals.
