Eagle Village Resort

It was pitch black at night, with only the wildlife to hear, and we even saw deer running by early in the morning near the lake. The place has an old, rustic feel and could use repairs, but we liked it and had a relaxing weekend. We stayed in a three-bedroom place with a kitchen, dining room, living room, two bathrooms, and a small washer and dryer. The staff were cool, and check-in and checkout were quick. There’s a pool with no lifeguard, games like pinball, a pool table, and a small BBQ area outside with four grills. Just got back to reality, and we’d definitely return.

I’ve been staying on the property since 3/27/2024 after making arrangements with Stephanie, the manager, to pay monthly. I’m an owner, and my family had two deaths within four days. There was a lot of corruption going on, and the owner terminated numerous employees. For numerous months, we’ve had no electricity, heat, or water, which has badly affected my family’s physical, mental, and emotional health. The new owners haven’t fixed these terrible conditions. Without water, we can’t bathe or cook, and food spoiled in my refrigerator and freezer. This is unacceptable. I’ve kept to my agreement with Stephanie, but the new owner keeps making excuses about the water. I’m asking other owners for support and advice, and for everyone to keep my family in their thoughts and prayers. There was no electricity in the living room when I wrote this, and more than an hour after I asked for help, nobody had come. The front desk is impossible to reach and maintenance doesn’t answer calls. I used to love bringing my kids here, but after this stay we won’t return. The cabins need serious upkeep: many lights didn’t work, faucets leaked, couches were stained, and I found someone’s dirty underwear under the end table in the living room on my first day. There were gaps around the door, poorly insulated windows, a barely cleaned tub, and towels that felt like sandpaper. The heating couldn’t handle cold winter nights, and our first night we ran the fireplace and oven just to get a little warmth when temperatures were below 5 degrees. Blinds were missing slats, a closet door was broken, a window was covered with cardboard, and the beds need work. I know it had been several years since we’d stayed here, but I won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend it until the resort is renovated and shows it cares about guests.

The grounds were clean and scenic, and the check-in and checkout ladies were very nice, but we won’t be back. It feels like a dying resort that needs some care in the units. Arriving late was stressful: there’s a sign with after-hours check-in instructions, but you have to get out of your car to see it, in the pitch dark with bears around. Inside, the kitchen cabinet was peeling apart, wallpaper was coming off the living room wall, the master bedroom TV screen was broken, bathroom walls were dirty, and there was glass in one of the beds. There was a coffee pot but no coffee, creamer, or sugar, which would’ve been nice after a long drive and late check-in. A raccoon in the chimney scared us, so we blocked the fireplace in case it came inside. The porch door latch wouldn’t lock, so I blocked it and the front door with a chair to keep myself and the kids safe. The pool had a green film on the bottom, and the rec center attendant wasn’t very sociable.
