Hilltop Inn and Suites

The only real issue was the AC. Even set very cool on the thermostat, the room was only sort of cool, not as cold as it should’ve been. I chose to pay at the property when I booked online, but my debit card was charged before I arrived, even though the site said it would only hold the reservation. I’m not sure what happened, but it was paid and the stay was fine. We needed a room because we were taking my stepson to college band camp and didn’t want a two-hour drive early in the morning. This was much cheaper than staying in Conway, and only 23 minutes away. Check-in was quick. The room looked recently remodeled, was clean, and didn’t smell of smoke despite being a smoking room. The bathroom had great water pressure, and the neighborhood was quiet beside the busy highway. Food delivery was available. There was an ice machine and a vending machine, though it didn’t have much in it at the time. I think I saw a pool area in the corner of the parking lot. We’d stay again.

The location worked well for the ren faire in Mt Vernon, since it wasn’t too far away. There was no breakfast at all, despite our booking advertising free breakfast. In our room, the bathroom door was dirty and had no towel hook, a corner lampshade was broken at the top with what looked like sharp bits sticking out, and the beds were hard. It wasn’t an awful stay, but I’ve had cleaner, nicer hotels for the same price. If there were another hotel choice in Greenbrier, I’d go elsewhere next time, but sadly this is the only one.

We expected a continental breakfast, but none was provided, and a hot drink from the vending machine cost $2:00. The attendants were rude and cursed at my children, then yelled at them when I asked for more toilet try’s. There was Cheetos in the bed, cigarette burn marks all over our supposedly smoke free room, and gentleman hair everywhere.

The room was lacking in several areas, which I was willing to put up with. The cockroachs were another matter. I turned on the light to use the bathroom and saw baby roach bugs crawling all over the floor. I grabbed my things and left around 10 pm, after about two hours in the room. The manager offered me a free stay, but I wanted a refund instead. He told me never to come back. Don’t worry, buddy!!!
