Greeneville Inn and Suites

The desk clerk was a real bright spot. We arrived mid evening on a motorcycle trip, without a reservation, after the weather turned, and he was extremely nice and attentive. He even suggested leaving my bike under the entrance awning. The lobby looked great, so we thought we'd scored, but the rest was mixed. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd want to inspect the room before committing. Outside, the pool looked like a sewage lagoon, and there was stuff lying around that I'd have thrown in the dumpster. The room had recently been remodeled, though clearly not by a contractor. We signed a no-smoking paper, but it smelled like a wet ashtray at a poker game, with heavy smoking that seemed recent. My wife bought a candle, so the second night was better. It wasn't spotless, but it was okay, with a newer vinyl plank floor and no carpet. The room was spacious and had a pull-out style love seat, which we didn't open. The facilities were clean, the shower had good pressure and hot water, the AC worked, and the TV and remote worked. Most of all, the bed was clean and comfortable. Because of the weather, we stayed an extra night. We didn't see a working ice machine. There was no coffee in the room, just bad instant coffee in the lobby, and no breakfast. There were a couple of vending machines.

The location is good, but the rooms were nasty. Ours looked as if someone had spilled soda bottles and soaked the whole place; everything was sticky. This used to be a good hotel with clean rooms. The front desk staff weren't very polite or friendly either. If you don't like smoke, I wouldn't stay here. Ashtrays were overflowing with cigarette butts at several entrances, and people were standing there smoking as you went in or out.

Room 308 was nasty and needed cleaning, minor repairs, and paint. The hallways also needed cleaning and painting, and the public water fountain was dirty. The cleaning lady and maintenance personnel seriously need training. I originally booked four nights, but the afternoon manager Lady was friendly and a great help. Thumbs up only to her for refunding my money. She was great. I've helped maintain over 5,000 units of military housing on joint base Lewis/ mcChord, so I know what proper cleaning and maintenance should look like.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the kind, helpful staff made up for the few small things that were off while the place is being remodeled. I'll definitely stay again.
