The Historic Magnolia House

The Magnolia House was amazing, and the staff welcomed us and went out of their way to accommodate our party of seven. The food came out very fresh, and they explained the menu before we ordered. The double eggs topped with fried shrimp were so delicious that we ordered three. We also got plenty of the large potato fries. My family tried almost every entree, and every dish was great. We ordered cheesecake and carrot cake for dessert, both the best we’d ever had. I’d encourage everyone to come.

We had a marvelous Valentine’s Day here, and the four-course meal was splendid. Every bite was full of flavor. We’ll come back to try the midday reset and stay in one of the rooms.

The food was good at the Valentine’s Weekend fixed-meal event, but service was exceptionally slow. I love the history of the place, and they tried hard, though they seemed understaffed. I understand, so I’ll give them another chance.

The historic New Orleans feel and lovely jazz in the background made the atmosphere special. The staff were absolutely charming, and treated us with such care that it felt like being loved on at a neighbor’s house. The Sunday brunch buffet was cold, which is a big pet peeve of mine, but these things can happen. What mattered was how kindly the team handled it. When I politely said my food was cold, they took my plate upstairs and warmed it up when I asked. They kept smiling and took care of it with real warmth. The food tasted good and had plenty of vegetarian options. This adorable boutique hotel does Sunday brunch, and we’ll definitely return. I’ve already booked us for the Wednesday night jazz dinner in a few weeks!
