The Rex Hotel

Those heated bathroom floors were such a nice touch in the mornings. My partner and I found the place peaceful and comfortable, with a cozy cabin feel and lovely interiors. The furniture and decor seemed carefully chosen, giving it a bit of luxury while still feeling relaxed, never overdone. It made for a perfect getaway for the two of us, and we're already looking forward to coming back.

The Rex is an easy weekend escape from Philly, and check-in and checkout couldn't have been simpler. Our bungalow was clean, and the whole property was well cared for. We stayed in a larger room with an indoor fireplace, plus a private yard with a hot tub and fire pit. The barrel sauna was a great way to begin or finish the day. The property backs right onto one of the Promise Land hiking trails, and there's a little general store at The Rex where we picked up everything for s'mores. It exceeded my expectations, and we'll be back.

For an overnight stop off I-84, this place was perfect. I was breaking up a long drive, and the location suited that purpose, though it felt a little out of the way for me. The surroundings are very basic and give you the sense you're heading into the woods. I understand there's a special park just beyond the hotel, but that wasn't what brought me here. Inside the high wooden fence, everything was impeccable. The courtyard was pleasant, and the private back gardens had comfortable furniture. The place keeps things simple, but the quality is high. Nothing bothered me, which is unusual: the design was excellent, outlets were where I needed them, the kitchenette had plenty of plates and cups, and there were lots of soft, absorbent towels. It all felt like what you'd find at a more expensive hotel. I'm probably not the intended audience for the location, but it worked perfectly for my stop.

We come back every year and can't wait for the next stay. The owners are very responsive, and there are plenty of hikes within a half hour. We especially love Bushkill Fslls, and there's even a trail just a minute from the room. The rooms are beautiful and really clean, and the sauna looks beautiful too. Our room has a hot tub that we use every day, then we sit by the fire pit after dinner. There's a cute little shop with s'mores fixings, snacks, toiletries in case you forgot something, and souvenirs.
