The two men at the desk were welcoming, and when I handed in a driver’s license I’d found in the parking lot, they said they’d call its owner right away. My room was clean and looked after. The gold tub surround had that 1970s bathroom feel, which suited the old roadside motel style I like when I travel alone. The king room cost me $67 for the night through AARP, with taxes and fees included. The bed was comfortable, the heater under the window worked well without much noise, and I barely heard I-70. A good place to stop for the night, especially at that price.

Parking right by the room was a relief after a long drive, and the hot shower and comfortable enough mattresses helped us rest. The two beds suited me, my husband, and our son. In the morning there was coffee and a light snack, including a very sweet Cinnabon. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which made it hard for me to fall asleep. The faucets leaked onto the floor, and we had no rags or spare towels to clean it up. There were only two towels for three of us. I especially missed having a separate one for my hair, and even if there was a small extra towel, there still weren’t enough. We paid $75 cash, though Booking had shown $63 including taxes, so that was disappointing. It was acceptable for a basic night while passing through, but there were several things that could’ve been better.

I was quoted $59 over the phone and booked, but at check-in he charged me another $10 because the room had two beds, even though I was alone and only needed it for 10 hours. Room 23 was in bad shape. There was bug droppings and someone’s hair on the beds, the paint was peeling, and things weren’t working right. I didn’t even want to look in the bathroom. The beds were hard, and cleaning one was the best I could do since I had no choice but to stay. The door between my room and the next one was held with duct tape, unlocked, and wouldn’t lock, so I wedged a chair between the doors. My own deadbolt had no hole to slide into and seemed to be there just for show. The place already felt sketchy. After I lay down, I heard footsteps above me, which was strange because I thought it was a ground-level inn. I tried to ignore it and close my eyes. Then the bed was bumped three times. I took off my eye mask, but nobody was there. I put it back on and felt someone rub my legs strangely. Again, no one when I looked. Next it felt like somebody sat on me. I sat up, took the mask off, and said whoever was there could have the room after I left. I’d only slept three hours and had five hours before I was due to go, so I asked to be left alone to sleep. I lay back down and put the mask on again, then felt someone playing with my hair. I asked them to stop. It was 11 p.m., and I left early. The footsteps kept going as I headed out. Whoever was there can have the room. I’m never going back.

Hot coffee and a hot shower, plus a comfortable bed and an extra blanket. The heater worked well too, especially for the price.

After a long day driving, this little motel was a welcome stop. The rooms were clean, the beds and pillows very comfortable, and the shower had hot water with good pressure. WiFi was good too. It’s no Hilton, but the price was well worth it.
