La Quinta Inn & Suites Greenville Haywood

We needed somewhere for a few nights while our big truck was in the shop, and booked here. It was reasonably priced, nice and clean, and fine as a place to sleep, even if it’s not a five star hotel. Breakfast was fairly decent. The only downside was the limited TV channels, but we can live with that.

After an awful stay somewhere else, I’m so glad we switched hotels and came here. The room was just right, and we couldn’t hear every little thing the neighbors did. Breakfast had a great variety and was excellent, and the front desk was always helpful. My husband and I could finally relax, with zero issues.

I used to stay here when rates were around $65. It was nothing special, just a roof over your head, but I felt safe and it was clean enough, even though it smelled like dogs. I rented again today and was told there’s a new owner. Now it’s about $100 to $132 a night, with the same employees, and the man was rude. I prefer the first floor, but he said that floor is for pets only. I don’t like being higher up for safety reasons, and the elevator is super slow outside peak times. They’ve cut trees I liked, put in ballpark lights for security, and now lock the side doors, which is good. But that doesn’t justify $100 or more a night. This place is far from worth that price. They’d have to tear it down and start over, since most rooms smell of dogs, cigarettes, and mold. They’re lucky to have the business they do. They serve breakfast, but they can’t cook: the eggs are overdone, the waffle mix is always runny, and they don’t offer individual milk containers, so the milk is shared. The selection is limited too. Now that a Muslim has bought the place, I’m sure the bacon and sausage will be removed.

We travel with our pup and have stayed at lots of LA Quinta Inn locations. This one was especially nice. It’s clean inside and out, has good beds and clean showers, and the staff are friendly. Free parking and a good part of town too. It’s about 10 minutes from Downtown Greenville, but the drive is worth it for a reasonably priced room at half of what you’d pay downtown.
