Inn on the Square, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The Chop House food was good, though dinner service wasn't, and the restaurant space felt more like a conference room. The ballroom itself is very nice for events, but a wedding reception there made the lobby atrium noisy until 10:30p. We could also hear doors slamming in the hall, and the rooms weren't very quiet. The bathroom needs a shower update, with intermittent water pressure and old tile and shower head. All in all, we were happy with the stay.

We had dinner at the restaurant and bought the Nye party, with good food and good service. Our king room on the 3rd floor was spacious, modern, and clean. We stayed on New Years Eve, and it was quiet. The bed was super comfortable, so it was a very nice visit.

We've been regulars at Fox and hounds in Cambridge chophouse since moving here five years ago, and had hoped things would be better after the hotel was bought and renovated. Instead, we've had three awful dinners in the past year. Twice we waited two hours for our meals before leaving. The third time we waited an hour, and when we spoke to the manager, she blamed the waitress. One couple with us got their food while the rest of us sat waiting, and the manager didn't seem to care. I've sent complaints and was told someone would call to discuss them, but months have passed without a word. It feels like they don't care about loyal customers or their experiences. If you're dining with more than two people, I'd suggest going elsewhere. Something always seems to go wrong in the kitchen, and it's a bad situation for diners.

The rooms looked nice and were clean, but the walls were paper thin. I could hear everything the people next door were doing, including private alone time. It made for a horrible stay. Without that, I'd have given four or five stars.
