Golden Knight Motel

The AC blew right on us, with no way to turn down the airflow, so we kept switching it off and on and were hot, then cold all night. People were outside talking and playing music, too. The room itself was dirty, with holes and stains and crumbs on the carpet, bedding, and towels. The bedding looked yellow and neglected, like it hadn't been replaced or updated in years. The woman at the front counter kept changing the price. I called ahead and was quoted $109 plus tax, then on arrival she said $130 plus tax, then $135. She said a card would cost another $15, so I paid cash. I handed her $200 expecting $70 back, but she gave me $50. When I asked, she said it was $135 plus tax and that she hadn't charged the extra $15. It was so late and we were exhausted, so we let it go. It felt like she took advantage of the situation and charged far more than the room was worth. When she first brought us to the room, she said she didn't have a room card and would need to unlock it with her own key, so we couldn't even leave if we wanted. When we got out of the car to look inside, she told us to lock the car, which didn't feel reassuring. In the morning she just stared at us with a strange smile and said, 'oh yup okay bye have a good day,' without checking our room number or anything. The whole stay was strange and disgusting. I would rather have slept in my car. 🤢🤮

The plumbing was disgusting, and the water often cut out. Some outlets and other electrical things didn't work, so even though the wiring seemed okay, I wouldn't trust it. The bedding and curtains were damaged and heavily stained with blood and other things, and the cigarette smell was always there. There are often people shouting outside, and the issues with sketchy people never seem to stop. Customer service is almost nonexistent, and prices vary depending on the person and time of day. The place needs serious renovation and feels trashy throughout. Honestly, with things the way they are, it should be closed. Don't go.

I was nervous after seeing some really bad Expedia reviews, but the rooms were clean and the weekly rates were affordable. This is one of the better motels around. Some rooms have kitchens with full-size fridges, plus tables and chairs, which makes the place a good fit for a week or a month.

The location sits right by a very busy road, and the walls are paper thin. Most rooms seem to go to long-term renters. That doesn't bother me by itself, but people are loud and inconsiderate because that's just their normal routine. I'd need the price to be about $20 lower to consider it. The gold on this Knight is tarnished.
