Super 8 by Wyndham Groesbeck

We booked through a third party and found clean rooms, a hot breakfast, and owners who were very professional. The rooms were so nice we kept our dog out so it wouldn't get hair on the carpet. Plenty of parking, too. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place to stay. Great job.

The room was clean and cool, and the front desk person was pleasant. For $70 for one night, it wasn't bad for Groesbeck. We did run into some inconveniences: no coffee cups, no towels in the room, and no hand towels downstairs. They said they'd bring towels up, but none ever arrived. The elevator was out, too. Nothing terrible, just a hassle.

The room was clean, but there was no hot water last night or this morning. I expect to be able to take a hot shower at a hotel, whatever the price or location. The receptionist blamed the holiday, which I understand, but that still didn't make the lack of hot water okay.

We've stayed here several times to visit relatives, and it used to be comfortable and accommodating. Staff are still friendly and the breakfast bar is nice, but the place has been getting less clean and the rooms feel neglected. The coffeemaker was dirty, there was only decaf, the bedding is old, the iron was broken, and the tissue box was empty. We also found trash on the bathroom floor that was still there after housekeeping. Keys sometimes don't open the building or room doors, and the upstairs hall light has been flickering for over a month. It badly needs updating. You get what you pay for, I guess, and next time we may spend $10 more at the motel next door.
