Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa

The property was clean and comfortable, which matters most to me. I liked my room quite a bit; it was bright and had a comfortable couch. My advice is to check that you’re getting what you paid for. Most rates include a resort fee, but I had to ask the front desk agent about it after she checked me in. I also didn’t receive all the perks listed as part of that fee, so I’m not sure it was worth the cost.

The staff were kind and professional throughout my pleasant stay. Tim, the restaurant server, deserves a special mention for being thoughtful and kind. The pool felt a little cool, so we didn’t use it with our kids, and the M Club was temporarily closed, which was a downside. Even so, I’d recommend the hotel for a cozy, comfortable stay.

We were too tired to change rooms, so we asked the front desk to replace the bedding after finding a stained, dirty comforter when we first walked in. On our last night, a ballroom party played loud music until 11 o’clock, and the noise shook the whole building. We needed a good night’s sleep before a morning flight. Worst experience ever.

My fiancé and I went for a Friday date night away from the kids. On the way in, my fiancé slipped because water was dripping from the ceiling. We told the front desk at check-in, and they kindly gave us a few drink tickets. The room was spacious and well designed, our stay itself was pleasant, and the onsite restaurant was delicious. The problem came at checkout. We wanted to pay with a different card, and the woman helping us told my fiancé to insert the card used to hold the room so the funds would be released. He then put in the card we wanted to use, and that one was charged. We were told the hold would be released right away. A week later, my fiancé had spent hours on the phone with hotel staff and our bank. The hotel said they couldn’t help anymore and gave him the accounting department’s number. Since Wednesday, he’s left multiple messages over two days and hasn’t been able to reach anyone. We’ve now paid for one night in one room twice. The runaround has made me question whether I’ll stay at a Marriott property again, especially since we’re still looking for wedding venue and lodging for our ceremony. I wouldn’t want our family and friends to have this happen during such an important celebration. We’re incredibly disappointed with the service.
