Quality Inn Grove City - Columbus South

I hadn’t stayed in a hotel since 2019/2020. Angel from reservations was helpful, parking was plentiful, and the lot was well lit. Check-in was easy with great desk staff. My room was clean, and checkout was quick with more great staff.

The room had everything I needed to sleep, though there was a slight smoky smell. The front desk host was courteous and professional both at check-in and checkout. The Drury across the street costs about the same and has better rooms and amenities, but this Quality Inn covered my basic needs.

We were soaked by the time we got our bags indoors in the pouring rain. There’s no canopy or overhang to pull under while unloading, and the luggage carts don’t have solid bottoms, so we had to carry half our things upstairs. I’ve never seen carts like that. Very disappointing, and I won’t stay at one of these motels again.

The staff were okay, though not especially warm. The place didn’t look like the online or Choice members app photos, and the room wasn’t what I’d booked. I’d used extra points for a whirlpool, but there wasn’t one in the room. There were stains on the beds, chipped walls, and rust in the bathroom. The shower pressure was barely a trickle, the TV image had a purple tint like looking through a car window, and the AC only got the room down to 74 even when set to 64. The broken blackout shade let three bright lights shine into the room all night. I don’t really recommend it.
