Yosemite Westgate Lodge

At $190 a night, I thought the price was unreasonably high. The beds were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was decent, and the heater worked well, though it made a moderate amount of noise. But the soundproofing was awful. I could hear everything happening and being said in the next room, even though they weren’t talking loudly. The refrigerator was so noisy I couldn’t sleep, so I had to turn it off. There were old dirt stains on the chair, and I didn’t want to put my clothes on it. They charged $150 and $30 at check-in after charging me $190 for the night. The next day, the $150 was refunded, leaving the total at $190 plus $30. I don’t know why, and didn’t look into it.

The place was really cute, clean, and quiet. Our room was spacious and affordable, so we extended our stay. I’d definitely book here again next trip.

The facility itself was clean and convenient, which made the experience more disappointing. We’d stayed here before and liked the location and the good food at the cafe next door. For a quick return trip, we called ahead and were told to just come because they weren’t busy, and I was refused a reservation. I was quoted a price for four people in a double bed. When we arrived, the price had gone up, even though they knew we were coming. No one had written down the quote, and it felt like a bait and switch. The price nearly doubled, supposedly because we had four people instead of two. They later checked their system and saw the price was the same for two or four, but couldn’t explain the increase or were willing to correct it. I waited 30 minutes for a manager to arrive and negotiate the rate, but they still wouldn’t honor the quote. In the end they took $30 off, and I’ll think twice about trusting them again. Even after we paid more, they wouldn’t give us extra pillows or blankets, despite the freezing weather and an empty hotel. There’s a much nicer, slightly more expensive hotel up the street that we’ll consider next time.

The area is beautiful for taking photos, and the room was comfortable and very clean. My only issue was that they didn’t honor the online price I’d paid. Otherwise, everything was fine. I recommend the place, and the restaurant is very good, especially for breakfast.
