Shopping and places to eat are close, and the rooms sit away from the main street, so they’re quieter. Parking is set back from the street too. The manager, Jade, is very professional, friendly, and accommodating to guests’ needs. The prices are very competitive. I’ve visited quiet Gualala a few times but stayed at the Surf Inn only twice. On my first visit, just before Christmas, I had the roomy Prime Suite, with a handy little refrigerator for snacks and a great oceanfront view. The second stay was more ordinary, just a room with an ocean view.

Jade, the owner, was so kind, sweet, and courteous, and did everything to make us comfortable. Our clean room had extremely comfortable beds, and we got a great rate that included our dog. We enjoyed the nearby walking trail with its beach overlook. Breakfast was nice too, and the custom coffee maker that makes lattes and cappuccinos was a great touch. We had a great time!

We arrived just in time for a magical sunset and stayed only one night before leaving early for Fort Bragg. Jade, the morning manager, gave us recommendations for our next stop, made us both vanilla lattes, and sent us off with road snacks. Thanks so much, Jade. We were heading north on Shoreline Highway 1, booking rooms as we went, and got lucky finding the Surf Inn at Gualala. It was very clean and accommodating, with a Kuireg coffee maker in the room and really nice complimentary bathroom products. Highly recommend this little gem.

We had a lovely stay with our dog and really liked the room, which felt like a classic coast highway motel with updated furniture and good water pressure. The owner was friendly and managed to fit us in at the last minute. Her dog was sweet too. Guests can use the fire pit, and the water views are great.

The room was clean and spacious, with a great view, and the staff were warm and accommodating. Everything was very nice. I wish we could’ve stayed longer, and I’m looking forward to specialty coffee in the morning.
