We paid over $300 for one night, and I expected much better. The room looked dirty even though we arrived right after it had supposedly been cleaned. It smelled clean, but the curtains were frayed, and the linens had stains and cigarette burns. The old mattress was torn, there was a hole in the wall by the toilet, and there was hair behind the toilet and on the bathroom door. The tub was heavily stained and the toilet paper dispenser was rusted.
Room 214 was awful for my boyfriend and me. There wasn’t anywhere to get fresh water, and even the breakfast fruit was bruised or starting to go bad. Stains were all over the floor, sheets, comforter, and tub, and there was mold on the walls. There was also a hole beside the AC unit where you could see daylight from outside, letting in humidity and bugs.
The lights flickered, the door keys had to be reset every time we left, and the TV never worked during our stay. With all that, I’m not sure what we spent $400 on. We brought our two boys, both under two, and asked to shorten our stay because of a health concern for them. The room had rust coming out of the shower, black mold on the AC unit that we could smell as soon as we walked in, and the AC pumped damp air into the room until everything felt wet. After our son showered and walked across the floor to the bed, his feet were completely black. Because of the health concern, our infant had to stay in a pack and play. We asked to leave and requested 50% off, but they refused and charged full price, including weekend inflation, nearly $400 for the two nights and half day before we asked to go. This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. We thought we were getting a decent place for the price, but could barely get clean or sleep comfortably. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone trying to enjoy a family vacation in the area.
I booked two nonrefundable nights through booking.com. The staff were kind and friendly, and the breakfast area was nice and clean. The pool area and water were dirty, though. My room didn’t feel clean: the door didn’t latch properly, and the floors and bathroom weren’t fresh. There was no shampoo or lotion in the dispensers. Items at the coffee station had been opened, with things missing from the packages, and the lotion dispenser had fallen off the wall. It looked like someone had torn it down and tried to stick it back up.
There were other guests talking to the front desk about similar problems, so we clearly weren’t the only ones dealing with this. Our room at this Quality Inn in Gulf Shores smelled strongly of mold, and there was mold and dirt along the walls and baseboards. The tub had grime and buildup, the bathroom vent was packed with dust, and the stained sheets made it even worse. The room had obviously not been cleaned properly before we arrived. Cleanliness is the bare minimum, and this place missed it completely. We wouldn’t stay again.
