Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Gulfport Airport

The rooms were just okay, and the road coming in is torn up with equipment left in the street. It's close to the airport, but the front desk woman's rudeness would drive more business away. When I asked a simple question, she treated me like I was speaking another language and kept looking over her shoulder as if she expected an altercation. I'm a person of color myself, and I was literally only asking a question. If I could give zero stars, I would. Don't waste your time.

I booked through booking.com. At check-in, the woman asked for a card on file, so I gave her my bank card, which I keep locked. She said it declined. When I asked what I was being charged for, she said it was a $50 deposit, which I paid. She stayed behind the glass while talking to me, and when I said I couldn't hear her, she was rude. After she handed me the keys, I walked all the way to the room and they didn't work. I went back, and she asked three more times if I'd put them next to my phone, even after I kept saying no. Then she changed my room number and warned me to make sure there were only three people in the room. Worst stay by far. I'm never coming back, 0/10 🍅

Hotel management did nothing while the family next door argued loudly for hours every day. They also had a party in the parking lot where another altercation broke out. Absolutely horrible.

The front desk customer service was a welcome change after airport delays on Friday evening. That's the good part. After the first night, I went to Walmart across the street for air fresheners, bleach spray cleaner, and a bacteria-killing air spray because the room smelled like urine. The sheets had something that looked like blood or candy on them, so we had them changed right away. It worries me that they hadn't been changed before we arrived. There was mold on the walls, floors, shower, toilet, sink, counters, microwave, and other surfaces. The place was dirty, and better housekeeping could make a big difference. The bed's springs were noticeable, and it was probably 8-10 years old. The old pillows were uncomfortable too, so I felt like crap in the morning. The door didn't lock properly, so I wedged a chair in front of it. You get what you pay for, so don't expect more. Would I stay again? Yes, if the owners, who are nice people, inspected the rooms their housekeepers clean or hired new ones, and invested in replacing, updating, and maintaining things. The property could become something. It has major issues, though, and I would have asked for a refund if one had been possible.
