We regret staying here and spending any of our money. Inconvenience seemed to be the motto, and customer service was nowhere to be found. This is how Titanium Elite members were treated. On our second night, we needed to do laundry, but the front desk attendant said the washing machine was broken and there was only one machine. On the third night, we asked for more hand soap and were told there wasn’t any. On day four, housekeeping cleaned our room for the second time but forgot to empty the trash, even though there are two bins per room. The next day, I ordered something from Amazon. The attendant wouldn’t give me the package because it was in my husband’s name, so I had to pull him away from a business meeting to collect it. I’m his wife, and the package was a head scarf that you could see through the packaging. I had ordered it. Then we requested a Friday checkout but were charged for Saturday anyway. We picked this place because a review said it was clean, but cleanliness was the least of our problems.
The breakfast was great, and the housekeeping staff were very kind. But at $335 a night, the room was outrageous for what we got: knats everywhere, mold in the shower, an unvacuumed floor around the bed, a broken TV remote, burned-out light bulbs, and a refrigerator that didn’t work. Manager Kelly acted like none of it was a big deal. I’d never come back.
The only trouble was the air conditioning. Even set to 72F, it wasn’t cycling properly and stopped cooling in the middle of the night, leaving the room hot. It went back to a normal temperature after I forced it to cycle. Aside from that, it was an excellent stay: the staff were friendly, and the modern, comfortable room had decent lighting and bedding, plus a distinctive center bathroom with sliding barn doors. Sausage gravy and bisquits at breakfast topped it all off!
I’m disgusted with the hotel’s General Manager and nightshift desk clerk. They acted like they didn’t care about the condition of the suite I stayed in. I arrived late on a weekend, exhausted, put food, drinks, and snacks in the fridge, and went right to sleep. My partner and I left early to see Cruisin the Coast for our first time. It was 20 minutes from the main drags where it was happening, so we couldn’t relax at the hotel as planned and watch the cars from the pool area. The pool was a big disappointment too, and not worth going out to swim. When we returned to shower and get our food and drinks, I noticed the night light by the bed didn’t work. The TV remote moved so slowly it barely worked. The fridge had been plugged in and set to the highest setting, but the food and drinks were warm. Frustrated, I threw it all away and got in the shower, where I found mold. I called the front desk right away. The phone only worked on speaker and I could barely hear, and I was stepping on peanut shells that seemed to have been left by a previous guest. The clerk came to look and said she couldn’t do anything then. She told me to contact General Manager Kelly in the morning and said she’d leave a note for Kelly to call my cell. If I didn’t hear from her, I should call back. No one called, so I called several times and left messages until almost 5 p.m. Kelly eventually took my call and heard my complaint: I’d paid 3X the regular rate because of the price gauging for that weekend, but didn’t get the accommodations I felt I’d paid for. She turned it back on me, saying they could fine me an extra $250 because I had a dog, even though the nightshift clerk had already approved the service animal when we checked in. Kelly didn’t go ahead with charging for the animal, which would be illegal. She apologized for the accommodations not meeting Marriott standards. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, even if it’s the last place in Gulf Point. We paid $677.76 for less than two days. I’m sure we could have found somewhere that met our needs and been happy to pay for it.
The room was spacious and had a mini fridge and microwave. My only issue was that the AC didn’t make the room cold, though it wasn’t hot. There was a mix of hot and cold food and drinks to choose from, and several dining options nearby, some an easy walk away. Check-in was quick and easy, and the gentleman at the front desk was exceptionally nice both then and at checkout.
